Over the next twelve months we will be opening a series of Green Collar training centres, based at our partner's sites and premises across the North East Region. The first two centres are already operating at the Nissan site in Sunderland and at the Building Futures East premises in Newcastle. A further centre - at the Romag premises in Consett - will be opening shortly. Together, these will form the basis of our Green Collar College in the North East.
The College resources and facilities will made available to inform and engage with local schools and the community about jobs and the skills needed by the emerging low carbon industries in the Region. These include electric vehicles and their infrastructure, green construction and renewable energies.
Plans are now being made to extend the network of centres across the Country. Each new centre will be based on the model pioneered in the North East, and will be developed in collaboration with local partners.
